Laparoscopic repair of parastomal and incisional hernias with a modified Sugarbaker technique

چکیده
A parastomal hernia is the most common surgical complication following stoma formation. As the field of laparoscopic surgery advances, different laparoscopic approaches to repair of parastomal hernias have been developed. Recently, the Sugarbaker technique has been reported to have lower recurrence rates compared to keyhole techniques. As far as we know, the Sugarbaker technique has not yet been performed in Korea. We herein present a case report of perhaps the first laparoscopic parastomal hernia repair with a modified Sugarbaker technique to be successfully carried out in Korea. A 79-year-old woman, who underwent an abdominoperineal resection for an adenocarcinoma of the rectum 9 years ago, presented with a large parastomal and incisional hernias, and was treated with a laparoscopic repair with a modified Sugarbaker technique. Six months after surgery, follow-up with the patient has shown no evidence of recurrence.

Single-Port Laparoscopic Parastomal Hernia Repair with Modified Sugarbaker Technique
INTRODUCTION Laparoscopic parastomal hernia repair with modified Sugarbaker technique has become increasingly the operation of choice because of its low recurrence rates. This study aimed to assess feasibility, safety, and efficiency of performing the same operation with single-incision laparoscopic surgery. MATERIALS AND METHODS All patients referred from March 2010 to February 2013 were con...
متن کاملLaparoscopic Repair of Ileal Conduit Parastomal Hernia Using the Sling Technique
Laparoscopic parastomal hernia repair has become a viable option to overcome the challenges that face the hernia surgeon. Multiple techniques have been described over the last 5 years, one of which is the lateralizing "sling" technique, first described by Sugarbaker in 1980. In this study, we report the technique and our early results with the laparoscopic modified Sugarbaker repair of parastom...
متن کاملCombination of Altemeier’s Procedure and the Laparoscopic Sugarbaker Modified Technique to Repair End Colostomy Prolapse (ECP) and Parastomal Hernia (PSH)
Introduction: Stoma Prolapse and Parastomal Incisional Hernia are both, separately, very common complications after end colostomies. However, their simultaneous occurrence is rare and, to our knowledge, combining Altemeier’s procedure and Laparoscopic Sugarbaker modified technique has yet to be reported for an end colostomy related complications. Materials & methods: In this case report, we det...
متن کامل[Parastomal hernia prevention through laparoscopic modified Sugarbaker technique with composite mesh (Physiomesh®)].
The high incidence of parastomal hernia and the controversy surrounding its repair make its prevention an area of intense research. The aim of this article is to describe the modified Sugarbaker technique with a new mesh for the prevention of parastomal hernia using a laparoscopic approach.
متن کاملRepair of Concomitant Incisional and Parastomal Hernias Using a Hybrid Technique: A Series of 32 Patients
BACKGROUND Concomitant incisional and parastomal hernias is a challenging condition. We used a hybrid technique of sublay and onlay to treat patients with this condition. MATERIAL AND METHODS The clinical data of 32 consecutive patients treated from February 2008 to April 2014 for concomitant incisional and parastomal hernias were retrospectively reviewed. The mean diameter was 9 (range 4-13)...
